Sustainability

Economic perspective

The economic dimension of sustainability, to us, above all means improvements in the logistics, the production as well as the products and their packaging. Where possible, we use regional raw materials, optimise our packaging materials on an ongoing basis, and save on the use of reusable packaging materials.

For the production of good foods, we are above all concerned about quality, taste, safety and sustainable production. That is why we place great emphasis on traceability in the procurement of raw materials. Regional contract farmers guarantee us a consistently high quality. Regional suppliers, on the other hand, help us increase the efficiency of our production processes by the principle of short distances.

To ensure that our products are not only delicious, but also safe, we use an established quality management system. Various certifications guarantee our customers the highest quality and confirm compliance with prescribed hygiene regulations. Furthermore, we carry out HACCP analyses for our products and processes in order to identify possible dangers and determine the necessary measures.

Clean Label

Only the best for you!

Clean label products will be produced without any addition of preservatives, flavour enhancers, antioxidants, colouring agents, emulsifiers, flavourings, yeast extracts or chemically modified starch.

Good examples

  • In a year, around 2,000,000 reusable boxes will be used for transportation at Wernsing – that means a total saving of 966,000 kg of packaging material!
  • The conversion of our buckets from round to square ensures an increase in pallet utilisation by up to 33 percent.
  • The number of necessary transports for the delivery of the goods is thus reduced by approximately 310,000 kilometres per year and leads to fuel savings of around 100,000 litres.

We also have specific goals for the future:

  • Reduction of the total energy consumption of production per tonne by 10 per cent by the end of 2018
